PayPoint powers RingGo Retail parking payments

New partnership allows drivers to pay in-store for parking

Welwyn Garden City, 7th July 2020: PayPoint and RingGo have today announced the launch of RingGo Retail, a new offering that enables drivers to pay for parking at over 27,000 retailers across the UK.

The innovative solution allows motorists in more than 400 towns and cities to pay for their parking via PayPoint’s extensive retailer network. The retailer simply enters the details of the customer’s parking session and it can be paid for touch-free.

Designed to aid social inclusion, RingGo Retail means that drivers who were previously unable to pay for parking on a smartphone are now catered for. With 99.3% of the UK population living within a mile of one of PayPoint’s stores, paying for parking has never been easier or more accessible.

Motorists can find their nearest PayPoint convenience store on the RingGo or PayPoint websites.

Danny Vant, Client Services Director at PayPoint, said: “Accepting RingGo payments across our network of 27,000 retailers is another example of how we are transforming convenience for both retailers and consumers. We’re proud of this new partnership as it offers greater accessibility to drivers everywhere.”

Peter O’Driscoll, RingGo’s Managing Director says: “With the addition of RingGo Retail, at no additional cost to providers, we’ve created an inclusive solution that allows people without smartphones access to paid parking. Now drivers across all demographics can choose how they pay; on the move with RingGo app, or via cash or contactless at one of 27,000 outlets across the UK, whatever way they prefer.”

Despite the fact that over 80% of retail payments are now made by card and 95% of adults aged 16-64 have a smartphone, there has historically been some reluctance from Councillors and retailers about moving to completely mobile payments due to concerns about social inclusion. The scale and UK coverage of this new offering from RingGo means these concerns can be dissipated, allowing Councils and Private Operators to remove dependence upon physical machines, thereby helping safeguard both parking employees and members of the public.
